HEARING INSIGHTS

Hearing care in Ipswich and Raceview: what is available locally

A modern, spacious reception area at Raceview features a curved front desk, wood-paneled walls, geometric lighting, and large floor-to-ceiling windows designed for comfort and ear relief from urban noise.

Hearing care in Ipswich and Raceview

Ipswich residents have historically had to travel into Brisbane for audiology. That is a long trip for a wax removal appointment, and a longer one if you are managing hearing aids and need adjustments more than once.

There is a closer option.

Where we are

Ear Relief runs a hearing clinic from Winston Glades Family Practice, 12a Edwards Street, Raceview QLD 4305.

Raceview sits just south of the Ipswich CBD, which puts the clinic within a short drive of Booval, Bundamba, Silkstone, Eastern Heights, Flinders View, Yamanto and Ripley.

You do not need to be a patient of Winston Glades to see us. We operate our own clinic within the practice — you book with Ear Relief directly.

What is available locally

The full range of routine hearing care:

  • Ear wax removal, using the method that suits your ears
  • Hearing assessments, including speech testing
  • Hearing aid services — fitting, adjustment, repairs, maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Tinnitus assessment
  • Home visits, for anyone in the area who cannot easily get to the clinic

The hearing aid maintenance side matters more than people expect. Adjustments are not a one-off — they are the part of the process that determines whether devices get worn or end up in a drawer. Having somewhere local to get that done changes how realistic it is to keep on top of.

Why local matters for hearing care

Hearing care is not a single appointment. A first assessment usually leads to a follow-up, and if hearing aids are involved there will be a fitting and then several adjustment visits over the following months.

If each of those is a round trip into Brisbane, some of them quietly do not happen. Distance is one of the most common reasons people abandon hearing aids partway through the process, and it has nothing to do with the devices.

Getting there

12a Edwards Street is a short distance from the Ipswich CBD, with parking at the practice. Ipswich and Booval stations are both a short drive away.

If mobility is the issue rather than distance, a home visit may be the better option — we cover the Ipswich area for that as well.

Ear wax removal in Ipswich and Raceview

Ear wax removal is the appointment most people in the area book first. A blocked or muffled ear is common, uncomfortable, and usually straightforward to deal with in a single visit, with the removal method chosen after the clinician has looked in your ear. If wax is not the cause, you find that out on the same visit rather than after weeks of drops.

No GP referral needed

You do not need a referral from your GP to see an audiologist. You can book directly with Ear Relief for ear wax removal, a hearing assessment or hearing aid support. An audiologist can be your first point of contact for hearing and ear concerns.

Pension and DVA card holders

If you hold a Pensioner Concession Card, a Veteran Gold Card, or a Veteran White Card issued for hearing-related conditions (or you are the spouse of someone who does), you may be eligible for subsidised hearing services under the Australian Government Hearing Services Program. A Commonwealth Seniors Health Card on its own does not qualify.

Bring your card to your appointment and mention it when you book. You can also check your eligibility using the official checker at hearingservices.gov.au.

Booking

Clinic days at Raceview are limited and change as demand grows, so it is worth ringing to check current availability rather than assuming.

When you call, mention:

  • Which ear, and what you have noticed
  • Any history of ear surgery, perforations or grommets
  • Whether you currently wear hearing aids
  • Anything sudden, painful or one-sided

That last point matters. Sudden changes in hearing, ear pain or discharge change what kind of appointment you need and how quickly.

If Raceview does not suit

Ear Relief operates clinics across Brisbane's south and the bay islands, so if another location is more convenient for you, or if the timing works better elsewhere, that is easily arranged.

Our locations page lists all our clinics, and the Raceview clinic page has current details and booking information.
